For those still looking for a solution in Firefox Quantum where these addons no longer work, I have created a simple application called FF Password Exporter for exporting your passwords from Firefox 58+ to a portable CSV or JSON format. 1Password currently can only import csv files that follow a specific format based on its type. A good SG spot must also have clear fields of fire, so enemies can't jump between cover to get a better shot at your sentry. An elevated platform or stacked boxes are good examples, the SG is somewhat safe from spam because the grenade will rather bounce harmlessly away or fall off. The first thing you must know about picking sentry gun spots is that it has to be as spam-proof as possible, that is that it has to be hard for enemies to destroy it by spamming it with grenades. You have to pick a good sentry spot or your sentry wont be as efficent as it could be, its also will be able to be destroyed/evaded more easily. So engineers have made up more usefull things to do with this, which I will tell you about later in this guide.Īnd you thought that all you had to do was to just plop it down somewhere and leave it. Damage is medium for level 1, extreme for level 2, incredible for level 3.ĭispenser: Meant to be used as a resupply away from base, but nobody ever really uses/needs it. A sentry gun requires 130 metal to build/upgrade a SG. At level 3, it has 2 miniguns and a rocket launcher, give a whole new meaning to overkill. At level 2, it has a minigun that can quickly kill any class. At level one, is has a basic machine gun that can take down light classes but not much else. This is an automatic turret that fires on the enemy. Sentry gun: Your Engineer's pride and joy. Damage is low to insta-gib depending on class and how much ammo he's carrying, and who or what he is near. If a group is coming at you, toss one of these at one of those classes and savor the moment your tripple/quadrupple EMP kill shows up in the top right. Knowing this, you should ONLY use these nades on heavy classes or classes that carry a lot of explosive ammo, which would be pyros, demomen, HWguys, and soldiers. That means that the entire group can be made of scouts, but if theres a pyro in the group, its gib city. The server also adds the damage to everyone inside the radius of the blast. This is why scouts can walk though EMP blasts and a pyro will explode in a mushroom cloud. Then it does the damage to the person that got hit by it. The way an EMP works is not too complicated, when someone gets hit with an EMP blast, the server evaluates how much ammo/cells/rockets/pipes etc etc and adds it up. To master the use of this nade will take a while, but once you do, you will be hell incarnate. This little bastard can drop an entire enemy squad in a heartbeat. Damage is very high.ĮMP grenade: This is what makes an engineer so deadly. These grenades can gib you with a single blast so watch where you toss them so they won't bounce back and surprise you. If you can't get a good shot at a sentry gun toss two of these and watch the Sg go boom. Use these against anyone except a pyro, demoman, soldier, or HWguy. Damage is Pathetic to high, depending on range.įrag: General purpose frag grenade. If you use this gun at long range, you wont be able to even kill a scout before a sniper nails you. You'll want to be using this most of the time as it can drop any medium class with 2 or 3 good close-range blasts. This gun has a good punch and a decent effective range. Damage is low.ĭouble-Barrel Shotgun: Your bread and butter weapon. ![]() The knockback can be usefull in other situations as well. Nothing is more satisfing than knocking an enemy off a platform and laugh as you watch them fall to their death. This gun can also be lethal to any class in certain situations, like on a narrow platform over a pit or an area near a pit, such as the underground in rock2 (knockback, remember?). Use this gun when you want to weaken slower classes coming at your base when they are out of range of your shotgun, this gun is also a good sentry killer. The projectile does low damage and is slow, however its the only gun that is laser accurate other than the sniper/auto rifle and it can knock back a foe a couple of feet. Railgun: Pistol that fires electromagneticly propelled yada yada yada. In combat this is your last resort weapon, hope to god you dont have to resort to using this. Or you can use it to humiliate someone by bashing their brains out. Spanner: This is what you use to build/upgrade/repair sentry guns and repair a teamates armor. They're eyes widened in perfect synchronization and soon after showered the engineer's body along with their blood and gibs."īefore I'll even try to tell you anything about how to rock the servers, you need to know what you're working with, so here are the engineer's basic stats: The Engineer took cover and calmly primed his EMP, and threw it at them. They sneered as they started firing, thinking he was an easy kill. " The enemy group attacked him, a soldier, a medic, and a pyro. It’s why I think I’m still enthralled by this film, instead of the Skeksis just being a point of film-induced trauma from my childhood. Besides, a story about the last living beings of a race, set to save the world and bring forth something called the Great Conjunction? Yeah, that’s the fantasy stuff that we all crave!īut that part about how the film is very high concept, but gives the least amount of information possible? That’s the most interesting thing to me, at least as an adult, about The Dark Crystal. It’s scary in a really direct and purposeful way, it’s funny and filled with humor children tend to like, and it gives a really good reading of a high fantasy world with the most minimal of additional information. However, beyond the insurmountable talent involved in the creation of it, The Dark Crystal is sort of the pinnacle in 1980s fantasy for kids. A task that the puppeteers manage with flying colors, though it was quite taxing on them. No, because they were meant to be the closest to humans, their expressions and gait of their walk needed to be very specific and relatable. Which is not to say that the Gelflings, tiny by comparison, were the easy ones to perform. ![]() And there was a distinct lack of vision possible when operating the puppets, so many performers had monitors on their chests so they could see what they were doing. Henson, himself, said he could only hold a Mystic puppet in a single position for 5-10 seconds at a time. Which is not to mention the sheer size of them. The Chamberlain Skeksis, alone, had 21 different electronic components! Often taking two, sometimes three, puppeteers to operate, the urRu and the Skeksis were horribly heavy with all their electronics. Marketed as the first live-action film without human beings on screen, The Dark Crystal was touted as “a showcase for cutting-edge animatronics.” Which it most certainly was! It contained some of the most groundbreaking technology in both hands and facial expressions that Henson and company ever put together. Really great stuff!)Īnd then there’s the puppets themselves. I had one of his art books growing up and never tired of flipping around it. (His illustrations are truly amazing, by the way. Known for his elaborate and stunning art of faeries, dwarfs, and other woodland creatures, Froud brought an otherworldly vibe to the vision shared by Henson and Oz. Because building an entire fantasy world like this one would take a lot more than 25 pages! It was at this point that Jim Henson pulled in illustrator Brian Froud to work on designs for the puppets. Once a lot of the small changes (mostly names) happened from Henson’s original story, the actual refining process of the plot started. As the story evolved, philosophical elements from Jane Roberts’s Seth Material began to form the base of the story - especially where Aughra and the urRu (aka, The Mystics) were concerned. Like, the land was originally called Mithra, which was later shortened to what we know it as today: Thra. Among a few other, smaller things that would be adapted, but not thrown out. Including the epic quest, three main races of very distinctly different creatures, the unification of two of those races, and the Crystal itself. And I, for one, would love to read it - even if it’s messy.Īs the jumping off point for the film, The Crystal included some major elements that would remain. As a 25-page story that Henson wrote and shared with his cohorts, The Crystal held all the eventual plot tidings of the final film. Lubin and Henson’s own short-lived, but recurring, SNL sketch, The Land of Gorch, that served as major inspiration points for The Crystal. ![]() And it was a mix of an illustrated edition of Lewis Carroll’s poetry by Leonard B. Unique in this way, every creature in The Dark Crystal is a puppet, created and operated by the great people at Jim Henson’s Creature Shop. Thra, itself, is a world with no humans, unlike many of the stories that Jim Henson and company set out to tell throughout his career, and even long after. A journey that they succeed at, though the future of Thra remains unknown to us. Within a tight 93 minutes, the general audience was transported to the dying land of Thra and introduced to the last living Gelflings, who go on an epic journey to save their world. Directed by Jim Henson and Frank Oz, with a script by David Odell, The Dark Crystal is burned into the brains of many millenials - myself included. Which is how, in 1982, we saw the theatrical release of The Dark Crystal. Given the stories that he set out to tell in the 1970s and 1980s, it’s deeply unsurprising that Jim Henson apparently thought it was unhealthy for children to never be afraid.
